Court stops planned demolition of shops at Bompai Police barrack in Kano

A Kano High Court has ordered the Nigerian Police Force to stop planned demolition, interfering or trespassing into shops situated at Independence Road, Bompai police barrack in Kano metropolis.

SOLACEBASE reports that the order issued by Justice Aisha Ibrahim Mahmoud directed the police to stay action pending the determination of the motion on notice.

The Plaintiffs/Applicants in the suit are George Bassey, Kenneth K. Nliam, Joseph M. Yunusa, Haris Idris Idris, Sadik Umar Ado and Ifeanin Iheanacho on behalf of Bompai Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society, while the Defendants/Respondents are Inspector General of Police, AIG Zone 1 Kano State, Commissioner of Police, Kano State, O.C Works Zone 1 Kano State and O.C Works, Kano State Police Command.

The court said it granted the interim order upon hearing a motion ex-parte moved by Barr. Sani Idris.

The matter was then adjourned to January 30th, 2024 for hearing of the motion on notice.
