COVID-19: Farm Radio International supports Rahama, Progress,VON, 7 other radio stations with 12,000 dollars

Farm Radio International is supporting 10 radio stations in Nigeria with $12,000, Canadian dollars as COVID-19 intervention funds.

The 10 radio station in the intervention fund received 1,200 Canadian dollars each.

Solacebase reports that the benefitting radio stations include, Voice of Nigeria, Rahama, Progress, Gotel, Globe, Redeemer, Lagum and three other community radio stations.

Farm Radio International Project Coordinator in Nigeria, Jamila Gezawa told Solacebase in an interview in Kano on Monday that 8 of the radio stations have received the grants while two others had challenges with their account details.

‘’The other two radio stations who are yet to access the fund would receive their money this week as arrangement towards that has been concluded, ‘’said Jamila Gezawa.

She explained that in times of crises such as COVID-19, exceptional communication efforts to deliver well-conceived, reliable and effective messages play important role in emergency communications, hence the need to support the stations with the fund.

Farm Radio International is a Canadian non-profit organization that started working in Nigeria about three years ago on tomatoes and potatoes value chain sensitization and support of farmers.
