The Senator representing Kano Central Mal Ibrahim Shekarau with the leader in the House of Representatives Alhassan Ado Doguwa on Monday met the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire and the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 on how to address Kano health scenario.
A statement issued by the Media Aide to Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Dr Sule Ya’u Sule on Monday and sent to Solacebase said the meeting was held in Abuja.
Solacebase reports that Senator Ibrahim Shekarau represented members of the Senate from Kano while Alhassan Ado Doguwa represented House of Representatives member from the state at the meeting.

It said Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, a member of the Senate Committee on Health was briefed by the minister on efforts in addressing the challenges of COVID-19 in Kano and where synergy is needed.
‘’The minister briefed members on the arrangement so far made to arrest the situation in Kano, noting that already health experts from Lagos and Abuja have been drafted to Kano to support the team on the ground,’’ said the statement.

Solacebase recalled that Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service on Monday accused the federal government of abandoning the state with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The statement said the meeting appreciated the effort of the Kano State Government since the commencement of the pandemic and called on the State to intensify effort towards effective communication, this the meeting advised to be handled by communication experts on a daily basis with a massive sensitization on the citizens.
According to the statement, part of the resolution of the meeting is to present the situation to the leadership of the National Assembly on Tuesday with a view to tabling the matter before President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday.
