Kano Police Command has confirmed trapping of 4 scavengers under the debris of the demolished Daula Hotel building, on Murtala Mohammed road, in the metropolis.

SOLACEBASE reports that the Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Usaini Gumel told newsmen at the site of the incident on Thursday.

Gumel said three of those trapped were rescued alive, while one person was confirmed dead.

‘’When we heard about this unfortunate incident this afternoon, we have to rush here to see the situation of things and how to control it, ‘’Gumel said.

The Police commissioner said among those rescued alive, two of them had to be rushed to the hospital for medical attention while efforts are still on to ensure that nobody is under the demolished structure.

He noted that the police had warned severally for people to desist from coming around the demolished buildings to forestall this kind of situation.

According to him, about 106 persons have been arrested from demolished buildings by the government in the state and charged to court for trespass and stealing among other charges in court.

He said, ‘’some of those we arrested carted away fans, doors, windows, iron rods, electronics under the guise that the items there own national cake sort off.’’

Also, KNUPDA Managing Director, Arc Ibrahim Yakub appealed to parents to cautioned their children from scavenging around demolished buildings to avoid such situation at Daula Hotel.

‘’To prevent such unfortunate situation, that was why we immediately fenced the demolished building on Race Course road, ‘’Yakub said.
