Emirate Debacle: Group calls for caution, urges Kano assembly to avoid anarchy

A social-political group, Inuwar Masarautar Bichi, on Monday, cautioned Kano House of Assembly to jettison actions that are capable of throwing the state into anarchy over a purported plan by the state government to dissolve the newly created emirate in Kano.

A statement signed by the Coordinating Secretary of the group, Bello Gambo, and 77 others that was available to newsmen in Kano urged the lawmakers to avoid a situation where the state would be reduced to a laughing stock.

The statement said “We want to affirm that our people love their Emirs and emirates, taken any retrogressive tendency/action by abolishing the current administrative structure of the current emirate system will certainly undermine peace, security which could lead to general disenchantment at large “.

The statement warned that “we should not experiment with conflict theory at this material time where there are glaring hardships in the land.”

The group further urged the lawmakers to respect the indigenous communities, and support of the local people, politicians, and individual emirates councils in bringing government closer to the people towards peace, progress, and development.

It stressed that ” democracy is all about human and capital development, hence we plead/pray that the House of Assembly, and the executive arm of government should aspire to do things that are positively inclined to peaceful co-existence of its people.

It advised the government that ” we must support efforts towards dialogue, local empowerment, infrastructural development, and civilizational, and cultural aspirations “

Inuwar Masarautar Bichi stated that “we wish to conclude, whilst harmonizing the different concerns on maintaining the present emirate”.
