#EndSARS Protest: Defence, Agriculture Ministers seek Emir of Kano intervention

Ministers of Defence, Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) and that of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development,  Muhammad Sabo Nanono have appealed to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero to join the vanguard of ending youths protests in the state.

Solacebase reports that the ministers call is in continuation of efforts to stop the resurgence of youths protest in kano state.

The appeal was made during a courtesy call on the Emir of Kano in his Palace by the Ministers who are on the working tour to their constituency on the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari.

This was contained in a statement issued by Special Assistant Media and Publicity to the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Abdulkadri, on Monday.

‘’This is aimed at complementing the efforts of the state government in achieving lasting peace in their area of responsibility as Chief Security Officer, ‘’said the statement

‘’The Ministers who described the monarch as a peace-loving Nigerian and a resourceful peacemaker appealed to him to throw his weight behind the current efforts of  President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to achieve enduring peace in the state.’’

According to the statement, the ministers who acknowledged that the traditional institution offers a wide range of the network to reach out to a large percentage of the youths urged the monarch to prevail on the youths to toe the paths of peace and prosperity by taking advantage of the entrepreneurial programmes of the present administration for a secured future.

‘’Similarly, the ministers identified the roles of the village, district and community heads as well as chieftaincy title holders under the umbrella of the command and control structures of the Emir as a veritable structure to  leverage on to spread the message of peace to the youths, to shun acts capable of threatening the sanctity of the nation.’’

The statement said the Emir of Kano,  Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for assigning Ministers to their constituencies to play a critical role in the peacebuilding and peace sustaining process aimed at redirecting the footsteps of the teeming youths to key into profitable ventures.

While assuring them of his cooperation and collaboration to end the regime of youths protests that have engendered unfortunate repercussions for the national interest he said his doors are open for regular consultation and advice.

The monarch prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of the nation, kano state and prayed for an end to the global pandemic of COVID-19.

The visitation to the emir Palace by the Ministers which came after an elaborate stakeholders peace parley dovetailed into wide range closed doors consultations by the Minister of Defence with elders and leaders of thought as well as strategic meeting with the representatives of various youth groups in the state.
