Ethnic Clashes: Atiku advocates peace to end crisis

1

Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has appealed to Nigerians to embrace peace and see each other as brothers and sisters.

The former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election stated this on his Facebook on Sunday in the wake of ethnic clashes in Oyo State.

‘’Let us remember how the parents of this country have dedicated themselves to the creation of a united nation whose people will love each other and love peace, said Atiku.

Solacebase reports that the ethnic clashes that started on Friday from the Shasha market between traders degenerated to the loss of lives and properties.

‘’We should not ignore this brotherhood, as God tells us in the Qur’an that He created us, different tribes, to know each other, not to fight each other.’’

‘’Wherever God has destined us to live, we must bear in mind that we are Nigerians.’’

According to the post, ethnic clashes between business people at the Sasa area of Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State have alarmed me, and of course, we have to rebuke them because ethnic violence is disgusting.

‘’I call on our youth to continue to be lovers of peace and unity in Nigeria. Let us stop looking at each other as enemies, and instead, look at each other as brothers and sisters whom God has given us one country, a source of pride. ‘’

‘’The time has gone for inter-ethnic violence in Nigeria, now is the time to unite and use our talents to uplift our country in the eyes of the world.’’
