Ex-Gov. Yari distributes clothes, food items to 5,000 orphans, women in Zamfara

Former Zamfara Governor Abdulaziz  Yari Abubakar has distributed food items and clothing materials worth over N105million to 5,000 Orphans in the State.

Speaking during the formal flag-off ceremony on Wednesday in Gusau, the State capital Alhaji Abdulaziz  Yari disclosed that Orphans across the 17 emirate Council would benefit from the gesture.

According to Yari, represented by his former commissioner for Religious Affairs, Mallam Maharazu Talata Mafara said the gesture was part of efforts to better the living condition of the Orphans and less privileged people in this month of Ramadan.

“This is part of the former Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar widow mind to bring joy, happiness to Orphans and less privileged persons particularly during this holy month of Ramadan”.

Also speaking, the committee secretary for the screening and selection of Orphans across the 17 Emirates in the State, Alhaji Sanusi Liman Dan Alhaji said a total of 5000 Orphans would benefit from the gesture.

He revealed that in each of the 17 Emirates a total of 277 Orphans that include 166 Women and 111 children were selected to benefit from the package, except Gusau the State capital which would enjoy 554 beneficiaries.

He maintained that each of the beneficiary women or children would take home  5 yards of wrapper or guinea brocade with one thousand naira cash for sewing.

The items distributed include Wrappers, Guinea Brocades, rice, millet, maize and sugar.
