FG recommits to improved security-Minister

The Federal Government has reiterated its determination and commitment to further improve the security of all citizens for peace, progress and political stability in the country.

The Minister of State for Defence, Mr Bello Matawalle, said this at the Hotpen Magazine’s 10th Anniversary and Award presentation on Sunday in Kano.

Represented by Rear Admiral Atiku Abdulkadir (rtd), his Special Assistant Technical, said President Bola Tinubu, in his Renewed Hope Agenda, placed a very high premium on security, human capital development and the overall well-being of the governed.

“We at the Ministry of Defence, will continue to employ all lawful necessary means to defend the integrity of Nigeria from all forms of threats.

“​I, therefore, dedicate this honour to President Tinubu and the people of Nigeria, who have entrusted me with the responsibility of serving them in various capacities.

“It is the trust, their resilience, dedication and unwavering spirit that inspired me to strive for excellence in all my endeavours.

“I am particularly pleased that this recognition comes in the field of leadership, security and corporate governance,” he said.

Earlier, the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the publication, Malam Aliyu Dangida, lauded the contributions of all the awardees and held that the minister, in particular, had demonstrated a keen understanding of the economic dimensions of security.

“He recognises that addressing the root causes of insecurity requires a holistic approach that includes socioeconomic development initiatives,” he stated.

Dignitaries who received awards at the high-profile occasion included the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin; Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina State;  and Sen. Ibrahim Shekarau, among others. (NAN)
