Ganduje appoints new Chairman for Kano Internal Revenue Service

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has approved the appointment of Abdurrazak Datti Salihi, as the new Executive Chairman of Kano Internal Revenue Service (KIRS).

This was contained in a statement issued by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Abba Anwar on Wednesday and obtained by Solacebase.

It said the appointment is with immediate effect.

Solacebase reports that the former Executive Chairman KIRS, Alhaji Sani Abdulqadir Dambo resigned his appointment on April, 9,2020 in a controversial manner as the state government claimed that he was removed from office after his resignation letter was released to the media.

The statement said while thanking the outgoing Executive Chairman, Bala Inuwa, governor Ganduje said: “We are delighted for his courage and dedication to KIRS while captaining the ship as Acting Chairman from March this year to date.”

It said Bala Inuwa, who doubled as Managing Director of Kano State Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO), as well as the Acting Executive Chairman of KIRS, would continue on his substantive Managing Director position at KASCO.

According to the statement,’’ the new Executive Chairman Salihi is an experienced financial analyst, a Chartered Accountant, and a Certified Tax Accountant. With over 20 years with experience in financial management, in both banking and private sector.

‘’Until his appointment, he was the Director, State Integrated Financial Management Information System (SIFMIS), of the Kano State Ministry of Finance. He held different professional positions, among them are, Director Personal Income Tax (PIT), Kano State Internal Revenue Service, ‘’said the statement.

‘’He was Head of Finance/Regional Accountant,  Bank of Agriculture (BoA),  Kano Zonal office, Manager, Nigerian Agricultural Cooperative and Rural Development Bank (NACRDB), in Sokoto and Head of Finance of the same bank, amongst many other positions he held.’’

The statement added that Ganduje called on the new Executive Chairman to work hard and closely with the staff so as to move the place forward for the overall development of the state.
