Kano state government has upheld the decision by the state House of Assembly to suspend the Managing Director of the state Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO), Alhaji Mohammed Bala Inuwa, for refusing to appear before the House to defend budget allocated to the company.
A statement issued by the state commissioner for Information, Youth and Culture, Malam Muhammad Garba, says the legislative decision is within the ambit of the law and in the exercise of its constitutional responsibility.
It says the state government believes in the rights of the state Assembly to issue invite to Ministries, Departments and agencies (MDAs) to defend their budget proposal and wondered at the decision by the Managing Director to decline the invite.
The statement urged all heads of MDAs to always endeavor to religiously observe the annual budget defense by honouring such invite for effective running of government.
