Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), says Kano and Kaduna are among the top-performing states in anti-corruption and transparency programs.
ICPC Commissioner in Kano, Zayyana Almu Dan Musa stated this on Wednesday at a one-day sensitization workshop organized by the commission for Anti Corruption and Transparency Units ACTU members in Kano and Jigawa states.
He said the feat was achieved through sensitization and collaboration with government Ministries, departments and agencies, noting that, ACTUs serves as a watchdog in any of the MDAs to carry out the function of checking corruption, except for prosecution while also commending the Kano ACTUs members in doing the job effectively.

‘’One of the ACTUs mandate in fighting corruption is prevention and in doing so one of the initiative devices is the creation of Anti Corruption and Transparency Monitoring Units in ministries departments and agencies of government especially at the federal government level’’, he said.
In a remark, Chief Medical Director, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Prof. Abdulrahaman Abba Sheshe described the workshop as a very important one which would consolidate for more transparency in the MDAs and knowledge transfer.
The workshop had presentation of papers that include ‘’Overview of ACTU Standing Order” by Shehu Dange, ‘‘Whistle Blowing Policy in Nigeria’’ by Umar Madu Ba, ‘’Preliminary Investigation in the MDAs’’ by Abubakar Jibrin and ‘’Imperative of System Study and Review’’ and was Attended by representative of various MDAS and the security agencies.
