Insecurity: Masari restricts motorists, shuts roads, markets in trouble areas

By Muhammad Muhammad Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari has imposed restrictions on commercial motorcycles and tricycles in the state capital and other trouble zones.

Solacebase reports that the Masari also declared immediate closure of 14 cattle markets, two major highways, and sales of petrol in jerry cans in the state.

In a statement personally signed by the Governor and made available to journalists, on Tuesday, Masari said enforcement of the declaration takes effect immediately.

According to Masari, the re-enforcement of the ban on the operation of commercial tricycles and motorcycles is hereby returned from 10.00 pm to 6.00 am in the state capital and 6.00 pm to 6.00 am in the frontline Local government areas.

The government also ban the transportation of cattle trucks from Katsina state to any state in Nigeria while a total ban is placed on 3 passengers on motorcycles and more than three passengers in tricycles.

” For immediate closure are of Jibia-Gurbin Baure road to all motorists until further notice. Travelers plying that road are advised to go through Funtua. Also, immediate closure of Kankara-Sheme road to all commercial vehicles. Users of this road are advised to go through Funtua. Only private non-commercial vehicles are to play the road.

Similarly, the ban is extended to Lorries/Trucks carrying firewood from the bush are totally banned. The suspension of the sale of animals at the markets of the following local government areas are also in place immediately.

The affected local government area are: “Jibia, Batsari, Safana, Danmusa,  Kankara, Malumfashi, Charanchi, Mai’adua, Kafur, Faskari, Sabuwa, Baure, Dutsinma, and Kaita.

“Re-enforcement of the total ban on the sales of petrol in jerry cans at filling stations. Only two designated filling stations are allowed to sell fuel of not more than N5,000 to motorists in Jibia, Batsari, Safana, Danmusa, Kankara, Faskari, Sabuwa, Dandume, Musawa, Matazu, Dutsinma, Kurfi, Danja, and Kafur local government areas.

Masari however stressed that essential workers including health personnel, security personnel, and Journalists, could use tricycles and motorcycles beyond the banned period
