Jegede wins Ondo PDP governorship primary

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Eyitayo Jegede, has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship election ticket in Ondo state.

Jegede defeated seven others, including Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi, who defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to fight for the rival party’s ticket in the race.

He scored 888 votes to defeat his close rival and the deputy governor of the state,  Agboola Ajayi who garnered 657 votes.

Also, others in the race include Eddy Olafeso who scored 175, Bode Ayorinde 95, Banji Okunomo,  90, Boluwaji Kunlere, 33 votes, Sola Ebiseni 29, and Godday Erewa scored 14 votes.

Eyitayo Jegede, who was the PDP candidate in the 2016 election, lost to incumbent Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
