The Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) has commiserated with Plateau state government and families affected during the recent killings in the state.

The group also described the killings as painful, unfortunate and callous.

The group condemned the incident through its National Chairman Ulama’u Council, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir during a press conference in Jos on Sunday.

Sheikh Jingir also condemned the recent killings and destruction of properties  that erupted on some Plateau communities.

The cleric equally condemned the blockage of highway and killing of travellers by some irate youth.

Sheikh Jingir called on both federal and state government to strengthen the security forces in the state and other trouble states across the country in order to avert the recurrence of the carnage.

He said, “2019 is around the corner and some politicians are out to blackmail the present administration, so I called on people not to be used by politician or cleric for surreptitious objectives.”

He added it is not good for religious leaders or group to be organising violent protest because that would not help the situation.

“Clerics should be preaching peace not to incite for violence during their sermons. Violence wouldn’t take us anywhere. Let’s us be agents of peace,” he said.

He further called on government to investigate the matter and brought the perpetrators of the killings to book.
