Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU has issued a 30 day working days ultimatum to federal government , for the government to accede to the health workers’ demands or members of the union will embark on an indefinite strike.
The national vice chairman JOHESU Comrade Dr. Ogbonna Obinna made this known in Kano while addressing the management of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) when he led a team of union members to the hospital.
According to him, the team was in Kano as part of the union’s sensitization campaign on matters affecting the conduct of member’s welfare.
He added that, the Federal Government had on September 30th 2017 entered an agreement with the unions to implement the adjusted new salary structure within five weeks, which is yet to be implemented, a situation he described as very disturbing to the union.
“We have been patient for five months. While some other health professionals demanded for the same salary structure and it was approved to them within 15 days. We always consider our patients before embarking on any strike that is why we gave the Federal Government long time ultimatum to implement our demands,” he said.
Chief Medical Director AKTH , Professor Aminu Zakari assured the union that their message would be relayed to the immediate authority concern, he also pleaded with the union to give more attention to dialogue to address their grievances.
