Guests have begun storming the Presidential Villa in Abuja as President Muhammadu Buhari today confirms the posthumous award of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on the presumed winner of the June 12 presidential election, the Late Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.
The investiture is scheduled to hold inside the old Banquet Hall of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa at 10:00am.
The president will also award Abiola’s running, Baba Gana Kingibe and the late human rights lawyer, the Late Gani Fawehinmi, with Grand Commander Order of the Nigeria (GCON).
Among the guests are a former governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba; Mr Frank Kokori; the wife and son of the Late Fawehinmi.
President Buhari had also declared June 12 as National Public Holiday.
The regime of the self-styled military president, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, annulled the June 12, 1993 presidential election widely adjudged most freest and fairest in the nation’s history.
