The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday announced that  Bayelsa and Kogi state governorship elections will now hold November 16.

INEC had earlier scheduled the process for November 2.

A statement signed by INEC director of voter education and publicity, Festus Okoye, said that the change in date was as a result of various appeals for the commission to reschedule the polls.

The commission said the elections, initially scheduled to hold on November 2, will now hold on November 16.

Also, the Bayelsa state government had earlier pleaded with INEC to reschedule the state’s election as it clashed with the state’s annual thanksgiving.
