JUST IN: Kano Anti-Corruption Commission To Investigate Bribery Allegation Against Gov. Ganduje

Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-corruption Commission (PCACC) says it has constituted a team of investigators to probe the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, over allegations of collecting bribe as seen in some video clips that have gone viral.

The Commission Chairman Muhuyi Magaji Rimigado said this in an exclusive interview with Solacebase on Wednesday in reaction to a petition by a group, named Kano Concerned for Prudent Leadership, requesting the anti-graft body to investigate the allegation.

Muhuyi Magaji Rimigado said immediately the commission received the petition, same was forwarded to the department responsible for investigation to address the issue.

‘’We received a petition demanding we probe the governor over allegation of collecting bribe in a video that went viral. And as I speak with you, investigators have commenced work on the probe,’’ said the commission Chairman.

However, the antigraft Czar said apart from the name of the group and those that signed the petition, there was no contact number or address of the petitioners.

According to him, ‘’We are urging the petitioners to furnish us with either their phone numbers or contact so as to inundate us with some needed facts.’’

The group in the petition said it is aware that the governor may not be amenable for prosecution because he enjoys constitutional immunity but rather insisted that investigations into the allegations could be carried out as was the case with former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose who the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigated while in office as governor.
