Kano State Government said 3 Coronavirus patients after testing negative twice have been discharged.
The State Coordinator of the Technical Response Team on COVID-19, Dr Tijjani Hussain announced this at the government house during the state task force briefing on Tuesday.
Solacebase reports that Kano recorded COVID-19 index case on April, 11 and since then the state was yet to discharge any coronavirus patient. Hence the 3 discharged are the first set to test negative twice of the disease in the state.
He said the three patients have fulfilled all the criteria for an automatic discharge from the isolation centre.
The Coordinator explained that the patients would have since been discharged, except for the closure of the state’s testing centre, located at Mallam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, AKTH.
Dr. Tijjani Hussaini noted that the recovered patients would be awarded a certificate to certify that they are free from the virus before going back home to reunite with their families.
He assured that the state would witness more discharges in the coming days as the COVID-19 patients are recovering, adding that with the establishment of three testing centres in the state, the discharge process would be speedy.

The coordinator also disclosed that 400 contacts had been traced in the state, adding that 7 out of 71 results of their samples taken had shown positive, while the remaining 64 came out negative.
He further stated that the 1,503 samples had been collected so far, while 22.8% of it were tested positive to the virus, adding that state had received a total of 1,332 distress calls so far.
On his part, the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment towards supporting Kano in the fight against COVID-19.
