JUST IN: Police rescue abducted UNIJOS Professor, husband
Abducted professor in the Department of Medical Microbiology University of Jos (UNIJOS), Grace Ayanbimpe and her husband in Jos, the Plateau state capital on Monday have been rescued by security operatives.
Spokesman of Plateau Police Command, Ubah Ogaba, on Tuesday confirmed their rescue to reporters.
Ogaba said the victims were released unhurt.
Recalls that gunmen had stormed the couple’s residence behind Haske Quarters, Lamingo in Jos North Local Government Area and whisked them away, on Monday.
It was gathered that the gunmen had made contact with the family shortly after their abduction and demanded N15 million ransom.
Although it could not be ascertained whether any ransom was paid.

According to Ubah Ogaba, “With the concerted efforts of the Police Tactical team Plateau State Command, Hunters and Vigilantes, the Kidnapped victims’ Prof Grace Ayanbimpe and her husband Mr Isaac Ayanbimpe were released unhurt.”
“Yes, the couple have been released by their abductors last night unhurt.
“But they have not returned to their house because they have been taken to the hospital for examination. But we thank God for everything.”
