A Nigerian, Zainab Aliyu who was detained by Saudi authorities over allegation of drug trafficking has been released.
The permanent secretary, ministry of foreign affairs Alhaji Suleiman Mustapha confirmed this at a news conference in Abuja
The release of the Zainab Aliyu is coming few hours after after President Buhari ordered the AGF to intervene in the case.
Solacebase recalled that hundreds of Nigerians had a peaceful demonstration in Kano on Tuesday calling for the release of the lady and prosecution of those involved in implicating her.
Zainab Aliyu, a student of Maitama Sule University, Kano, who travelled for Lesser Hajj in Dec. 2018 was detained by the Saudi Arabia authorities for allegedly being in possession of illicit drugs.
