JUST IN: Sultan declares Wednesday Eid-el-Fitr

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III has declared Wednesday 10th April 2024 1445AH  as the 1^st day of Shawwal 1445AH.

SOLACEBASE reports that the Sultan who is also the Chairman, Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, said Eidel-fitr will be Wednesday, 10^th April, 2024.

This was contained in a statement signed by the chairman Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs Sultanate Council Sokoto professor Sambo Wali Junaidu.

It says the Sultanate together with the National Moon Sighting Committee across the country did not receive any report  confirming the sighting of the new crescent Shawwal today Monday the 8th of April 2024 equivalent to the Islamic calendar 29th day of Ramadan.

The statement added that tomorrow the 9th of April 2024 is the thirtieth of Ramadan
