It was gathered that trouble started when Aminu Garko, who is also the Bureau Chief of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano met Bashir Bello, a correspondent of Vanguard newspapers and Assistant Secretary of the chapel at an assignment on Thursday.
SOLACEBASE was informed that Garko was infuriated that why should Bello attend the assignment without informing him as the chairman of the chapel.
However, our source said all efforts by Bello to explain to him that the invitation for the assignment stated that it was strictly for him as a correspondent of Vanguard fell on deaf ear as Garko took offence to the situation.
Not satisfied with the explanation, Garko was said to have descended on Bello holding him tight by the neck and was rescued by the chapel vice chairman and the council security.

Letter of complaint against Aminu Garko
I, Bashir Bello, write to the council to formally lodged a complaint against the person of Aminu Garko who physically attacked me on Friday, at the Secretariat of the Correspondent chapel, Kano NUJ over altercation we had.
The whole episode occurred in the presence of the Vice Chairman of the Chapel, Abdullahi Jalaludeen.
The whole thing started when we were discussing the issue of selection for an assignment, specifically, Thursdays assignment of Kano State Public Compliant and Anti-Corruption Commission which
some members of the chapel including myself got invitation for the assignment (strictly on invitation). Suddenly, Garko picked offence against my person for attending the same assignment as an Exco member and threatened that he will revenge. And I replied to him that I cannot be threatened as my destiny is in the hands of God who has destined what belongs to me.
In the process, he got provoked and descended on me and attempted to strangulate me. It took the intervention of the vice chairman, Jalaludeen and the security personnel who rescued me.
I hope my letter will be treated with utmost attention.
