JUST IN: Supreme Court Sacks Ihedioha, Declares APC’s Uzodinma Winner Of Election
The Supreme Court on Tuesday declared Senator Hope Uzodimma of the APC as governor of Imo State. The seven-member panel of justices held that Emeka Ihedioha was not duly elected Governor.
The seven-man panel of the supreme court led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, unanimously declared Hope Uzodinma as the winner of the March 9, 2019 governorship election and the validly elected governor of the state.
Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, who read the lead judgment, ordered INEC to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Ihedioha immediately and issue the same to Uzodima.
She similarly directed that Uzodia must be immediately sworn in as the Governor of Imo State.
