UPDATED : Suspected Lassa Fever Kills Two Doctors, Patient In Kano

A suspected case of Lassa Fever has claimed three lives in Kano with others in intensive care unit of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.

Solacebase reports that a pregnant woman from Bauchi suspected to be the carrier, who is now late had a caesarean section 20 days ago at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano.

In an interview with Solacebase, Director, Public Health, Kano State Ministry of Health, Dr Imam Wada Bello on Tuesday said that a female Houseman ship Doctor that died recently assisted in the caesarean section carried out on the woman by the consultant who is now late also.

He said a sample has been taken to Lagos for analysis and hopefully results are expected tomorrow.

He explained that already the other suspected infected health workers are responding to treatment, noting that the state isolation at Yargaya, Dawakin Kudu local government area of the has been prepared for transfer of likely infected persons if need be.

Dr. Imam Wada Bello noted that the governor would be informed of the situation immediately.
