Violence broke out on Tuesday night in Kano metropolis when officials of the state Hisbah board clashed with irate youths over attempted seizure of alcoholic drinks from a drinking joint.
Solacebase gathered that trouble started when Hisbah personnel stormed Ballat Hughes by Court road in Fagge local government area, to confiscate alcoholic drinks at a joint operated by a woman.
Solacebase reports that sales and consumption of alcoholic drinks in the state are prohibited as the state operates Sharia law.

Incidentally the action was said to have angered residents of the area in Sabon Gari ,who are mostly non-indigenes.
Some angry mobs descended on the Sharia police and allegedly set bonfires and barricades across the area.
Witnesses said there was stampede around Sabon Gari area as hoodlums took advantage of the situation to loot.
