Kano Approves Over N246m For KUST’s 3 Years Outstanding Fund

Kano state Executive Council has approved the release of over N245.78m for the settlement of the excess workload for the period of three academic sessions to the Academic Staff Union (ASUU) and Senior Non-Teaching Staff of the State University of Science and Technology, Wudil.

Addressing Journalists on Friday on the outcome of the state Executive Council Meeting held at the Council Chambers of the Government House, Kano, the state commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba said staff of the university have not been paid the dues as stipulated in the 2019 agreement between the federal government and ASUU.

Solacebase recalled that KUST ASUU branch had on January 30th  threatened industrial action raising allegation of poor funding and nonpayment of staff earned allowances.

‘’The funds amounting to N552, 032, 574.50 million has also been approved for the rehabilitation of Kafin Chiri Dam (Phase) in Garko local government,’’ said Muhammad Garba.

‘’The council has okayed the release of N122, 399, 563.85 for the furnishing and supply of office essentials for the newly completed office complex at Shari’a Court department, Audu Bako Secretariat, Kano.’’

According to the statement, the commissioner noted that the council similarly approved over N121. 57m for the award of contract on erosion and washout control at various locations in Garko local government area.

He added that the council approved the release of N38, 000, 000.00 million for the replacement of solar batteries and panels at 50 enrolment centres of the National Identity Management Commission across the state.

Other approvals by the council include the release of N16, 135, 000.00 million for the upgrade of vocational acquisition programmes.
