Kano State House of Assembly has lifted the earlier suspension of tricycle operators registration as confirmed by the Managing Director, Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) Alhaji Baffa Babba Dan’agundi.
This was contained in a statement issued by KAROTA Public Relations Officer Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa, on Saturday.
Solacebase reports that the development is in line with the resolution of the Kano State House of Assembly which deliberated on the matter and deems it fit to suspend its earlier directive to the Agency to halt further registration for new tricycle riders in-view of the recent disagreement between KAROTA and the Tricycle which resulted to protest and a two-day strike.
According to the statement, the new decision was adopted after KAROTA Boss, the State branch of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Civil Societies Organisations and the leadership of the Tricycle unions prevailed on the Leadership of the State House of Assembly with a plea to reconsider their position following the intervention of stakeholders between the two parties.

‘’The Managing Director said in a letter communicated to KAROTA by the Assembly, it directed the agency to continue with its scheduled plan for registration for the Tricycle operators, ‘’said the statement.
It urged all concerned to seize the opportunity to register their tricycle in line with the State Government directive which made it mandatory for record purposes and also a means of identification to help curb crimes in the state.
It added that the registration is scheduled to run for two weeks starting from the 23rd of February, 2021 after which anyone0 who fails to register would have himself to blame.
