Kano Assembly Probes $5m Bribery Allegation Video Of Ganduje

Kano State House of Assembly on Monday constituted a seven man committee to investigate a video clip allegedly showing the governor Abdullahi Ganduje collecting five million dollar bribe published  by an online newspaper, Daily Nigeria.

At the plenary sitting on Monday Abdul Labaran Madari representing Warawa constituency raised a motion of urgent importance for the house to investigate the video and recommend appropriate action to be taken.

Abdul Labaran Madari said the video has brought disrepute to governance in the state and portray the state in a bad light , hence the need to get a true picture of the situation.

The motion was seconded by member representing Kano Municipal Baffa Baba Dangundi for urgent action , with member representing Kiru Kabiru Hassan Dashi , Tarauni  Constituency Abubakar Zakari Muhammad and Kunchi / Tsyanwa Constituency Garba Yaú Gwaramai  all supporting the move.

The Speaker, Alhassan Kabiru Rurum  instituted a seven man committee headed by Baffa Dan’Agundi (Kano Municipal) as Chairman and Mujtafa  Adamu Aminu to serve as the committee Secretary.

Other members of the committee include as Labaran Madari (Warawa) member, Garba Gafasa (Ajingi) and Zubairu Masu, (Sumaila).

The other members are Ayuba Labaran (Kabo), Abubakar Galadima (Bebeji) and Garba Yau Gwarmai (Kunchi/Tsanyawa).

The committee was given one month to submit its report.

Solacebase gathered that there was tension at the Assembly before the session as the members had a closed door session of almost two hours.

Although during contribution at plenary, member representing Kano Municipal Baffa Baba Dangundi said the house should impress it on the governor not embark on litigation as it will affect the work of the house to get to the root of the matter.
