Kano broadcaster bags data journalism award

Khadijah Ishaq Bawas, a Broadcast Journalist has bagged the Pan Atlantic University School for media and Communication, Solution and Data Journalism Award.

Solacebase reports that Khadijah Ishaq Bawas, a correspondent of Liberty TV in  Kano, was recognized for her excellent reporting on need-based communities while proffering ways out in her report.

The Award ceremony held on Sunday at Omu Resort Lekki, Lagos also recognised other outstanding Journalists in the category of; “most consistent reporter,” “highest number of articles,” and “best report male category.”

An elated Khadijah said while receiving the Award, “It is a huge honour for me to receive this award. I am deeply honoured for this recognition of my work. A special thanks to my Colleague MD Lawal for his support in always Seeing me through. As a Development Journalist, Insha Allah, I will continue to work and strive hard for the betterment of society.”

Also speaking at the event, Mr Isaac Ogugua Ezechukwu the Director, Professional Programmes School of Media and Communication Studies said the gathering was to reward those that have turned in outstanding reports that made an impact in the lives of the people, after undergoing the data and solution journalism program at the beginning of the year.

Mr Ezechukwu commended the resilience of participants and their commitment in the course of putting up their reports, as he urged them to continue being good ambassadors of the school and the nation at large.

In a remark, Dr Ruth Oji, the Solution and Data Journalism Course Director expressed happiness that the knowledge impacted on participants during the program was not in vain, as she encouraged them to do more of solutions and developmental reports in the course of discharging their duties.
