The Kano State Government has ordered the immediate closure of Harbau Tsangaya Model Boarding primary school in Tsanyawa Local Government area which is located on borderline with Katsina State to ensure the safety of the students.
The chairman of the Kano State Board for Islamiyya and Tsangaya schools, Gwani Yahuza Gwani Dan Zarga gave the order in a statement signed by the public relations officer of the board, Aminu Ahmad Turaki and made available to Solacebase on Tuesday.
According to him, the decision to close the Tsangaya boarding schools in borderline axis followed the recent kidnapping of some boarding school students in Niger and Zamfara States though they have all been released.
Solacebase reports that the state government has closed more than 12 boarding schools in the outskirts of the metropolis as a proactive measure to check students abduction.
The statement said, “It was necessary for the Kano State Government to take proactive measures to prevent the occurrence of such incidents in the schools.
It added that Gwani Yahuza advised parents and relatives to immediately go and pick their children from the school.
