Kano collaborates with FCDO-Lafiya Project to improve healthcare delivery

Kano State Government has expressed commitment to the implementation of a road map to improve healthcare delivery in the state.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa stated this at a 3 day regulatory and professional associations Stakeholders meeting in Kaduna.

Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa said the state government’s commitment to improving the health sector accounts for continuous budget increment since the inception of the administration.

Solacebase reports that the dialogue was organized by Kano State Private Health Institutions PHIMA Management Agency (PHIMA) in collaboration with FCDO-Lafiya Project in Kano.

PHIMA Executive Secretary, Dr Usman Tijjani Aliyu said the meeting deliberated on collaboration in the areas of Regulation, Standardization of private health care practice, Monitoring and Supervision.

‘’We discussed the integration of the private health sector into the public health care sector and capacity development of the regulatory MDAs, professional associations and PHIMA, ‘’said Dr Usman Aliyu.

The Executive Secretary said with the collaboration with these professional bodies, the agency is on the right track to check quackery.

Some of the professional bodies at the meeting include the Nigerian Medical Association, Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists, Association of Radiologists of Nigeria, Nigerian Association of Optometrists.

Others are Association of Radiographers of Nigeria, Association of Community Health Workers of Nigeria, Environmental Health workers association of Nigeria, Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Guild of Medical Directors and Patent Medical Vendors Association of Nigeria.
