Kano confirms non-payment of June pension to 1, 841 pensioners

The executive chairman of the Kano State pension trustees fund, Alhaji Sani Dawaki Gabasawa has confirmed that, due to some economic challenges the state government is yet to pay about 1, 841 pensioners from 5 local governments in the state.

He made this known in a voice note sent to Solacebase in Kano on Saturday.

According to him, the state government has kept to its promise of paying all pensioners at the end of every month and the issues encountered that resulted to the non-payment to the effected 5 local government is as a result of the present economic setback witnessed in the country due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr Gabasawa added that the state government is so much concerned about the plight of these pensioners adding that their issue will soon be resolved.

He then called on the affected pensioners to bear with the state government as arrangement is in progress to see that they receive their payment as well.

“The state government is aware of the month of June non-payment of 1, 841 pensioners to the tune of N87million. I want to use this opportunity to plead with the affected pensioners from Bichi, Tudun Wada, Warawa, Wudil and  Ungoggo local governments respectively as the state government will soon attend to them and settle all payments,” he said..
