Kano State Government says it has intercepted one hundred and forty-five cartoon of expired and illicit drugs.
It said the illicit drugs were stored in a warehouse located at Niger street in fagge local government area of kano metropolis.
The State Commissioner for Health Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa disclosed this on Thursday shortly after the operation, by the Joint State Taskforce on fake and Counterfeit drugs and unwholesome processed Foods the Miscellaneous Committee and The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control [NAFDAC].
A statement issued by the State Health Ministry Public Relations Officer, Ismaila Garba Gwammaja and obtained by Solacebase on Thursday said the team was reliably informed about the expired drugs stored at the warehouse.
‘’The Commissioner represented by the Director pharmaceutical services of the ministry also the chairman taskforce pharmacist Abdu Umar Madaki further explained that the drug includes Vitamin drugs, Multivitamin and Diabetes drugs and others which is estimated at one hundred and fifty million naira,’’ said the statement.

It said the commissioner also pointed out that already the committee has successfully identified the owner and has since been handed over to the police for prosecution after investigation.
