The Kano State government has discovered and shut down an illegal traditional medicine center, Sahabi Integrated Alternative Medicine Center at Gwammaja, in Dala Local Government Area of the state.
The State Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) said it carried out the exercise in its ongoing campaign to sanitize the private health sector in the state
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Usman Tijjani Aliyu told Solacebase on Thursday that the agency, during the visit, found patients admitted with various illnesses ranging from diabetes, hypertension and sickle cells anaemia etc.
Dr. Aliyu said the centre operator was found using medical apparatus like stethoscope, sphygmomanometer and other Medical diagnostic kits which he has no training or information about the science on how to operate these equipment.
‘’Honestly this is an act of quackery and contravenes the laws and guidelines of PHIMA,’’ said the executive secretary.
He appreciated the support and cooperation of the residents that led to the discovery and closure of the centre that was endangering the lives of innocent people seeking health services.
Dr. Usman Tijjani Aliyu assured that the culprit will be dealt with in accordance with the guidelines of the agency.
