Police have rescued 47 victims from an illegal rehabilitation center in Kano.
Solacebase recalls that Kano State Government in November, 2019 banned operations of illegal rehabilitation centres across the state.
The 47 inmates rescued from the centre at Yar Akwa, Ungwar Uku, Tarauni local government area of Kano, on Thursday, were between the ages of 12- 30 and all males, said Kano Police Spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.
Speaking to Solacebase on the development, Kiyawa said the inmates are very weak due to torture and would be immediately taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital as some of them are in precarious conditions.

‘’They are looking emaciated with various injuries due to beating and torture by the operators of the rehab centre,’’ said Kiyawa.
He said two of the operators of the centre have been arrested and will be prosecuted after conclusion of investigation.
The police spokesman noted that the suspects who are already pleading for leniency, said they have been operating the centre close to a year.
