Kano trains over 260 private health care givers

Kano State Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) says its collaboration with the DFID – Lafiya Support for Health in Nigeria, is tremendously impacting on health care delivery in Kano.

Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr Usman Tijjani Aliyu stated this on Wednesday in Kano at a seminar for 260 Private Hospitals,  Maternity and Nursing Homes on the implementation of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) in Kano State.

He said the program is to provide basic primary care through the provision of a Basic Minimum Package of Health Services (BMPHS) at both Primary and Secondary levels of care to pregnant mothers, children under 5,  aged persons of more than 85 years, the vulnerable,  physically challenged and less privileged in the State.

The participants appreciated the state government compliance with the Abuja declaration of allocating at least 15% of the State’s budget to health, noting that Kano has gone beyond that with more than 17% allocation in the 2021 budget.

They expressed willingness to key into all relevant health programs of the State towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
