Kano Electricity Distribution Company Plc. (KEDCO) has denied media reports that a newly installed 60 MVA transformer at Kofar Danagundi transmission station in Kano had collapsed two days after installation.
KEDCO’s spokesman, Mohammed Kandi, said in a statement on Friday that, although there was a little problem with some feeders to pick up loads from the new transformer, it had nothing to do with the functionality of the transformer.
Kandi, who informed that the feeder problem had been fixed, however, assured KEDCO customers of improved power supply especially in the central business areas of the company’s three licensed states.
He recalled that, in December, 2017 one of the 60MVA transformers at Danagundi Transmission station was burnt in a fire outbreak, causing shortage of power supply to most parts of Kano metropolis.
