The Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria has appointed Comrade Auwalu Yusuf Kiyawa, as the new acting Secretary-General of the Union.
The National Chairman of the Union Comrade Biobelemoye Joy Josiah said this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.
The statement quoted him as saying “Sequel to the decision of the central working committee of the Union held at the board room, National Secretariat, Abuja, on 16 June 2021, You have been appointed the acting secretary of the Union”.
He also added that “the appointment was for 6 months duration at first instance, subject to renewal based on a good performance at the pleasure of the Union”.
” Though, the central working committee approved the appointment on 16 June 2021; however your effective date of resumption is Thursday first July 2021,” Biobelemoye said.
Solacebase reports that Comrade Auwalu Yusuf Kiyawa is a former Kano State Secretary-General of the Union and current Northwest Zonal secretary-general of the Union and also acting National General Sectary of the Union.

On his part, the newly appointed acting Secretary-General of the Union Comrade Auwalu Yusuf Kiyawa, during an interview with Journalists in Kano, promised to work hard and ensure the realisation of the Union mandate.
“Basic responsibilities of every Trade Union leader is to protect his members’ rights which is our status quo now, ” Comrade Auwalu said.
He said the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria has successfully carried out activities that touch the rights, welfare and wellbeing of the Union members both at the three tiers of Government.

Comrade Auwalu Yusuf Kiyawa also promised to ensure that the Union members are adequately equipped with current trends’ practical equipment equivalent with global best practices.
“My goal is to work hard, and put all hands on deck to put MHWUN in its desired position, both at Local, States and Federal Governments Levels”.
