Most NDDC contracts given to NASS members – Akpabio
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio on Monday said that some members of the National Assembly were beneficiaries of the contracts awarded by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
He hinted this while answering questions from members of the House Committee on NDDC at a public hearing session when he appeared before the committee on Monday.
When asked by a lawmaker, Boma Goodhead (PDP, Rivers) on whom contracts were given to, “Most of the contracts in NDDC are given out to the members of the National Assembly. If you don’t know, please ask the two chairmen,’’ Akpabio responded.
The House of Representatives committee is investigating an alleged N82.5 billion irregular expenditure in the NDDC and Akpabio and acting Managing Director of the NDDC, Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei, were summoned at the last sitting of the committee on Friday.
