The  Senate of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) under the leadership of Comrade Abdulmajeed Oladimeji Oyeniyi has distance the body from the politically motivated  protest by one Danielson Bamidele a factional NANS President.

Comrade Abdulmajeed Oladimeji Oyeniyi  with displeasure that some sponsored charlatans who are non-students went ahead to hold a protest in the name of student movement in Nigeria to discredit the effort of the Federal government and shamelessly took a side with ASUU in the ongoing negotiations between the FG/ ASUU with the consciousness that ASUU has continually used Nigerian Students as a tool of pun in the negotiations with government.

A statement signed by Comrade Abdulmajeed Oladimeji Oyeniyi said the demand of the leadership of ASUU at this critical moment where Nigeria is faced with an election is an attempt to heat the polity by blackmailing Mr President.

It said the demands of ASUU has always been for the benefit of Nigerian Student but only for the wellbeing of the individual pockets of lecturers not considering the dent of the academic calendar and its impact on the future of Nigerian students who are kept at home and often rushed after resumption.

It added that ASUU should be guided that the trust Nigerians have for the intellectual community should not be taken for granted.

The body called on the federal government to develop a strategy document to develop Nigeria universities in terms of infrastructure and find a lasting solution to ASUU  and its demands.

“We urge the government in the interest of development to shift grounds and demand that ASUU and her leadership demonstrate commitment to the future of Nigerian Students by shifting grounds as we are tired of staying at home and having a blurred future,” said the statement.

It noted that Nigeria Students believe that an upward review of the budget on education to at least a double digit will boost the support of Mr President within the student community as UNESCO demands 25% as the standard allocation for education

We appreciate the Federal Government 15Percent Mandatory Budget on Education

It’s very important that the general public note that the protest organize yesterday by one Bamidele Danielson was funded by enemies of this nation and our democracy , his position at the sponsored protest was his personal opinion.
