NGO expands health intervention to six hospitals in Jigawa

A non governmental organisation, Save the Children International funded by GlaxoSmithKline through INSPRING project has expanded it’s intervention to more than four general hospital in Jigawa state.

The expansion of the project was announced by the Chief of Party, INSPIRING project, Dr Adamu Isah while handing over of N55 million worth of oxygen  to Jigawa state ministry of health, held at Save the Children office in Dutse.

According to him, the value cost of piped oxygen system and oxygen are worth N47 million while training of doctors, nurses and bio technicians will cost N8 million.

He explained that, the state office presented the request for the need of expansion of their project intervention from the piloting hospitals (Kiyawa and Rasheed Shikoni Dutse) to all general hospitals in the state.

“Our request to expand our project to all general hospitals in Jigawa is considered, but for now we expanded it to four more secondary health facilities in the state, based on the resources we have and for effective intervention services”, he said.

Dr Isah Adamu maintained that, the additional four general hospital include Hadeja, Gumel, Babura and Kazaure General hospitals in the state.

“Today we are donating the most precious commodities that patients need during an emergency situation, and each pipped oxygen system can take care of five to fifteen people at the same time”, Chief of Party said.

In a remark after receiving the oxygen systems, the Permanent Secretary Jigawa State Ministry of Health Dr Salisu Muaz, represented by the director hospital services Dr Bashir Ahmed commended the GSK/SCI for the donation.

He assured of effective use of the donated items adding that, Jigawa State Government will continue to partner with INPIRING project for the improvement of health sector.
