The Nigerian Labour Congress NLC says it has open dialogue between striking tricycle riders and Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) over daily payment of N100 levy by operators.
Solacebase reports that NLC is collaborating with the Civil Society Organisations to ensure that a truce is secured between the two parties for peace to reign in the state.
Speaking at a news conference, Kano NLC Chairman, Comrade Kabir Ado Minjibir described the action as worrisome as many civil servants, students and passengers were forced to either trek to their destinations or go back home in the early hours of Monday.
Solacebace reports that on Monday the tricycle riders commenced a warning strike by withdrawing their services over the failure of the state government to suspend the daily payment of N100 as a levy.

Even though the tricycle Union is not a registered Union with NLC but it’s strike affect workers welfare and their socio-economy, so we must intervene and meet with all stakeholders about the issue, Minjibir added.
‘’Already we have scheduled to meet with KAROTA Managing Director and the tricycle operators to address the issue. Even if it warrants seeing the governor on the issue, we would not hesitate to do that, so long as we would be able to resolve the impasse.’’
He urged tricycle riders to remain calm and maintain peace.
