Northern Elders Mediate In Emir Sanusi, Gov Ganduje Crisis
The Northern Elders Forum has expressed worries over an escalating misunderstanding between Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the Emir of Kano Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II and some section of Kano elites.
The Forum in a letter addressed to Walin Kano, Alhaji Mahe Bashir over a planned visit to address the crisis by the northern elders and obtained by Solacebase on Saturday said the issue threatens the integrity of the entire Kano traditional institution, overall peace and security of the state and by extension the cohesion of the northern region.

Solacebase recalled that the relationship between the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has been frosty close to the 2019 governorship election and degenerated after the election which many said led to the creation of four new emirates and appointments of emirs in the emirates.
The letter signed by the Forum Chairman, Prof. Ango Abdullahi said the body has resolved to mobilize eminent northern personalities, elders and all categories of leaders and stakeholders in the north to intervene and find a lasting solution to the matter.
‘’The team while in Kano would interact with Kano elders, critical stakeholders, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje,’’ according to the letter.
The Forum in the letter scheduled the mediating meeting for Sunday, December,22 at Tahir Guest Palace by noon.
