NUJ inaugurates new executives at Freedom Radio

Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has challenged its members to always adhere to ethics of the profession and not to be intimidated in the course of carrying out their responsibilities.

Kano Council Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim made the call on Wednesday while inaugurating new executives of the union, Freedom Radio Chapel.

Comrade Abbas Ibrahim urged the new executives to consolidate on the successes of the past leaders of the union at the station and ensure good relations with the management but should not compromise the welfare of staff.

‘’The unity of our members is very important and their welfare should not be compromised for whatever reasons, ‘’Abbas Ibrahim said.

‘’Freedom Radio is the first private broadcast house in Kano to have a chapel and as I speak to you now , four other radio stations already have chapels while we are trying to bring others on board.’’

In a remark, the re-elected Chairperson of the union, Comrade Aisha Muhammad Yalleman restates determination to give priority to the training of members for effective service delivery.

She promised not to betray the confidence reposed in her.

Solacebase reports that other members of the new executives include, Abdullahi Isah, Vice Chairman, Muzamil Ibrahim Yakasai, Secretary, Abdulkareem Muhammad Abdulkareem as Assistant Secretary.

Others are, Tijjani Adamu Auditor, Adamu Muhammad Sulaiman, Financial Secretary and Shamsiyya Faruk Bello as Treasurer.
