0

Imo state Governor Rochas Okorocha  on Wednesday night said President Muhammadu Buhari is not disturbed about the gale of defections currently ongoing in the ruling party, APC.

Mr Okorocha stated this Wednesday night while speaking with State House correspondents after a meeting of APC governors with the president.

The meeting held inside the conference room in the office of the wife of the president at the State House Villa, Abuja.

Three governors, Senate President Bukola Saraki as well as several senators and members of the House of Representatives have left the APC for the PDP in the past two weeks.

Mr Okorocha said the governors met with Muhammadu Buhari to assure him that the APC still has 22 governors and are comfortable.

“We came to assure him that his foot soldiers are ready, and the president is in high spirits.
“In fact, he says nowadays, he has to sleep with his alarm clock if not he will pass the time of his sleep,” he said.

Mr Okorocha also said the APC is much more stronger now than before.

“We have 22 states, 53 senators. We are still the majority, and we are hoping to get more into our party.

“So we are here to let Mr President know that we are with him. Nobody is leaving the party anymore,” he said.

The Imo governor also said the party has for some years been aware that those who left were going to defect from the party.

Mr Okorocha, who is the chairman of APC governors forum, said it was unfortunate that the party could not give those who left what they were looking for.

He also said it is good that “Nigerians now know the truth, no deceit anymore.”

He said the defection by APC members is another form of corruption fighting back against Muhammadu Buhari over his decision to tackle the menace.

He said with the coming of APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, into office, the party is poised to win the 2019 elections.

Muhammadu Buhari had earlier met with senators elected on the APC platform.
