The Kano state police command on Thursday shut the Kano branch office of Opay –an online payment outlet during a raid over alleged noncompliance with the government rules and directives on mode of operations.
The Command Spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the command received an order from Kano state government to close the office.
He said the Opay company did not comply with some laid down rules by the state government in order to operate smoothly.
A source informed Solacebase that the complaint to the police emanated from the office of the Secretary to the State Government.
Our Correspondent reports that the Police officials ordered all the staff and riders of Adaidaita Sahu (commercial tricycle) to vacate the premises, threatening anyone who failed to comply with the order.
An eye witness Abdullahi Ibrahim told Solacebase that, the commercial riders were planning to settle their balance for previous day’s work when the police arrived and dispersed them.
Efforts of Solacebase to get a reaction from the company proved abortive as its personnel declined to speak with reporters
