Ramadan: Katsina district head encourages wealthy Nigerians to assist needy

The Kanwan Katsina and District Head of Ketare in Katsina state, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara has called on wealthy individuals to use part of their wealth to assist the less privileged and vulnerable persons in the society especially in the holy month of Ramadan.

Alhaji Usman made the call during distribution of clothing and cash assistance to orphans and less privileged persons in his district, donated by Bishir Umar Girbobo Foundation and other philanthropists from the Area.

The distribution took place at the traditional ruler’s palace in Ketare. The beneficiaries of the gesture were selected by the Village Heads from the district who brought them to the palace of the District Head to receive the package.

He noted that Almighty God accepts the prayers of the needy, the less privileged and the people that are in hardship and trying times especially in the Holy month of Ramadan.

The traditional ruler use the occasion to commend the Katsina State Government’s initiative for rolling out various policies and programs aimed at cushioning the effect of economic hardship on the people.

He also called for continued prayers for the government and people of the state to succeed in the ongoing fight against insecurity.

In another development, the District Head commended the Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda’s commitment of boosting irrigation farming in the state. Alhaji Usman Bello said the provision of solar powered water pumping machines provided by the state government has brought ease to the farmers compared to petrol powered.

According to him, this and other many more initiatives of the Dikko Radda’s administration will no doubt attract many youth to venture into irrigation farming to become self-employed and boost food production in the state.

He assured to use the district heads office to encourage youth to venture into irrigation farming in his domain considering the fact that the famous Mashigi Dam is located within the area which attracts irrigation farmers from all over the area.

While commending the efforts of the Katsina State Government in the fight against insecurity, Alhaji Usman Bello requested for additional security base in Mashigi Dam to secure the area.
