Remains Of Ex-INEC National Commissioner, Oniyangi Buried In Ilorin

The remains of former INEC National Commissioner, late Dr AbdulKadir Oniyangi was buried on Friday afternoon after a funeral prayer at his residence, GRA in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Solacebase recalled that late Dr AbdulKadir Oniyangi, also a former Secretary to Kwara State Government died at the age of 85 on Thursday after a protracted illness.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq joined senior citizens and hundreds of Muslim faithful for the burial rites (janaazah) of the elder statesman after the Jumu’at prayer.

A statement by the Governor’s Spokesman, Rafiu Ajakaiye said AbdulRazaq had earlier privately visited the home of the statesman on Friday to commiserate with the family.

The Governor in the statement described his death as the end of an era, noting that Dr Oniyangi was a trailblazer in the medical profession and a distinguished public administrator with impeccable character.

Dignitaries at the burial include Senator Sadiq Umar (Kwara North); Chief Judge of Kwara State Justice Sulyman Durosinlorun Kawu; and former Grand Khadi of Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice AbdulKadir Orire and Alhaji Tunde Mustapha Balogun, former CEO, defunct PHCN in Kano, Kwara State, INEC, Resident Electoral Commissioner, Malam Attahiru Garba Madami and many others.
